雙母音的變化多

很多家長誤以為孩子單字背不起來是因為不夠認真，記性差，

事實上我們發現許多孩子學習自然發音學得不紮實，

過程常常過於簡略

也許學過了短母音，就以為學完了自然發音

或是過於注重文法及句型的呈現，有些教學機構忽略了自然發音的基本功

家長一味要求孩子悶著頭背單字，不如好好省思：您的孩子學好了自然發音整套完整學程了嗎?

Spelling Review: Diphthong ou/ou/雙母音 ou的字

We loved our cozy old house.
Ouch! The hot drink burned my mouth.
You should count to ten and then come out.
The round cloud looks like a face.

– 孩子聽出雙母音ou的字有哪些

Phonics Word Work: Syllables VCV 教孩子聽懂音節

– On the board, write “winter” and “kitten”

– Explain that this is a two-syllable word with one consonant between 2 vowels. If a word has just one consonant in the middle, the consonant usually goes with the second syllable.

以上這兩個單字具有二個音節，而且是屬於兩個母音中間隔一個子音的組合形式(VCV)

學會分辨音節；了解VCV發音規則，背單字就不再那麼痛苦

Theme of the Week Communities, Cities, what is a city? What can you find in a city?

Interactive Writing: Write a List

-In Writing books or on lined pages students will write ways people get from place to place in a city.

-One student names one kind of transportation, have the class repeat the word, listening to sounds they hear

-Make a class list: train, bus, car, taxi, walk, subway, bike, scooter, skateboard. Have students copy one mode of transportation and illustrate it.

帶領孩子了解節日背後真正的意義–Happy Valentine’s Day

坊間許多英語教學機構，不時迎合中西方各種文化節日舉辦各式活動或氣氛營造，

往往不經意地忽略了節日背後代表的意義。

今天適逢西洋情人節

太平洋英語的孩子有機會了解節日來源之餘，並將這份真誠的人文意涵流傳開來：

Valentine’s Day Mystery Box

– Wrap a box and lid with Valentine paper

Place a valentine treat with clues that lead to the treat, inside the box
Invite students to write about what they think is inside the box throughout the day, and why
Collect all guesses and reveal what the surprise is at the end.

– Explore Concepts of Friendship (Build Self-Esteem)

Make collaborative cards that children will read again and again
Let students use a heart template to trace and cut out a large heart.
Ask students to write their names in the center of the heart (large)
Have students place their cards on their desks, along with markers/colored pencils.
Have students rotate to each classmate’s desk and write a compliment on that child’s heart.
- i.e. you have a nice smile, I like your hat, you have cool shoes, you draw well, you tell funny stories…

者的心境在道出讚美的當下，才是最美的）
(此外，我們還細心地教孩子如何讚美他人；例如給孩子一些思索的方向，讓孩子知道原來有這麼多小事情都是值得被說出來的，不見得是什麼感人肺腑或是豐功偉業的事蹟，只是一份好的感覺都值得被表達出來。更重要的是，要面帶微笑喔！因為對方聽你說話時，不只是聽你的語言，而是"感受"你的語言）

試問：「會說中文的人就會教中文嗎？」答案顯然是否定的。

會說與會教之間存在許多因素，例如：耐性，熱忱，方法及理念。

每一位教學者都帶有一份特質；每一位教育者都帶著一份熱忱與堅持，

英語教學絕對不只是讓孩子「聽到外國人講話」這麼簡單，否則只要在家聽CD就好了。

太平洋英語總是嚴選師資，因為教育絕不容許馬虎！

Small Mole makes Big Decision

It’s a story of love and loss – with themes including: making others happy by allowing them to be free to be themselves, the responsibility involved in looking after animals, the pain of losing something you love, and of respecting wild things and the natural world.

Mole在路邊撿到一隻小小鳥, Mole為小鳥準備食物;很細心地照顧牠. 有一天小鳥會飛了, Mole捨不得,做了個籠子把小鳥關在裡面.直到有一天, 爺爺來看Mole, 帶著他到山上吹著涼涼的風, 像是快要飛起來了一樣.

Mole終於決定放走小鳥, Mole 哭了.

看到小鳥在空中飛翔, Mole 笑了……

故事並沒有結束, Mole的一生還有好多選擇要自己決定

也有許多快樂與悲傷, 要由他自己去體驗:

愛與被愛, 責任與付出人與大自然與萬物共存的道理…………………

當我們帶孩子共讀這個英文繪本故事時, 運用Reading Strategy 理解故事脈絡;Cause, and Effect(因果順序)

和孩子一起延展思考的觸角.

討論的過程有時冗長, 但孩子整個過程中重複地說出故事內容及其中的單字,;句型

所學到的單字及句型是"有用的", 是活的, 是不易忘記的

若說得功利一些, 應付KET, PET長篇大論的閱讀理解測驗, 或是學測中的英文寫作

都能有較突出的表現.
