There’s a reason why parks are considered to be the “lungs of the city." They provide facilities for the young to play and greenery for everyone to escape from the concrete jungle, allowing us to breathe in some fresh air and experience a change of scenery. The illustration of the park in picture A shows that there’s a plethora of equipment on the playground, enough so that kids of all kinds can definitely find their favorite to enjoy. It primarily serves the community as a gym for the kids. Contrary to what playground equipment can promise, picture B shows what a forest should look like if it is relocated to the city side. It provides a plentiful amount of shade to hide from the broiling sun and lush grassland on which we can have our picnics. This type of park serves as a convenient stop-over for people whose lives are always in the fast lane to get recharged when they get sick of skyscrapers and neon lights.
In my ideal world, a park should provide a combination of the aforementioned functions as observed in pictures A and B to satisfy the needs of citizens. In an era when housing quarters have gradually taken over the land where trees and grassland are supposed to grow, we need to reintroduce the right proportion of greenery back into our lives. With the absence of access to mother nature such an important issue, my ideal park would encompass all it takes to be a national park. It would be as if a miniature chunk of nature were transported and relocated back to the heart of a city. One would find hiking paths traversing a land with streams of clean water, trees tall enough for birds to reside in, and a variety of flowers abundant enough to supply bees with a feast. It would be landscape full of scenery that one would assume could only be found in remote natural wilderness — a place to distill and clarify our souls.
