又到了PEI ”學校裡沒教過的片語” 時間了。今天我們要來學習 two idioms related to behaviors in a row 兩個有關於行為的片語。
第一個是 The Straight and Narrow 正直坦蕩
定義：a straight and law-abiding route through life. 正直守法的生活行為方式
例句:
1. If you keep on the straight and narrow, you behave in a way that is honest and moral.
正直坦蕩（如果你能持續正直坦蕩做人，你的行為舉止將會是誠實的、合乎道德規範的）
2. You should have no trouble with the police if you stick to the straight and narrow.
若妳行為正直坦蕩, 絕不會招惹到警察。
3. Roger was the kind who followed the straight and narrow every day of his life.
Roger 是位時時刻刻，在每天生活中行為正直坦蕩的人。
第二個是 paint oneself into the corner 自作自受。
定義: to do something which puts you in a very difficult situation and limits the way that you can act 做一件把自己推到一個尷尬困難的處境的事情。
例句:
I’ve painted myself into a corner here. Having said I won’t take less than NT$ 500 an hour, I can’t then be seen to accept a job that pays less.
我真的是自討苦吃/自作自受。自己嘴巴大先說工作時薪沒五百塊不做，我可不能被看到去接比五百元還低價碼來糊口。
